“On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb” (John 20:1).

The stone was removed. I was reflecting on why our Lord had the stone removed. He didn’t need to remove it in order to resurrect, in fact, He had already risen. Then it dawned on me that the stone was removed for our own benefit. So that Peter and John who represent all of humanity, could walk into the darkness of death and know that there is and always will be, a way out.

It is Easter. Holy Mother Church is celebrating the most sacred of days in the midst of strife and sickness. She is telling us that our faith IS the greatest reality and that despite the darkness of the tomb that we are all in, the stone has been removed. There is a way out of this and we will emerge different, transformed, converted, if we allow it.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Happy Easter indeed. We send you a glorious and triumphant greeting because Christ has conquered sin and death and removed the great obstacle of death that keeps us from attaining the same glory of a resurrected life.

Blessed be God, forever and always!
