I will comfort them in all their afflictions

This is His promise to us. This is His promise that we await in Advent. We await in confidence, in hope, in trust that He will bring His comfort to every situation in the world, in our hearts, and on our minds.

Comfort, oh comfort my people! Isaiah 40

He longs for us to lay it all down before Him. So that He CAN care for it all. We must be real with God so that He CAN comfort us. He is not looking for pretty words and meeting certain “requirements”. He is looking for us – as we are.

Take some time to journal with what in your heart needs comforting.

Contemplate the needs of Mary and Joseph on the way to Bethlehem. Think of all their trials, sorrows, and needs. Think about how they let the Lord in to comfort them. Unite your pain and joys to theirs.

Reach out to someone this Advent that you know needs comfort. Be their comfort.

Sit in the spirit of silence of Advent and let Him speak.

May this sacred season of Advent be one filled with His presence, His peace, and the expectant hope for His comfort.

Please be assured of our prayers!
