Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:

Laundry

Washes, dries, irons (as needed), and folds bed linens, towels, cleaning rags, blankets, bedspreads, and guests clothing. Commercial and residential type equipment is used.

Guests’ Room Cleaning

  • Cleans guests rooms following set procedures which includes removal of trash, dusting, wiping surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows, making beds, and bathroom cleaning and sanitation.
  • Uses designated materials and cleaning chemicals to perform cleaning tasks.
  • Checks rooms when cleaning for anything requiring repair. Notifies supervisor according to set procedure using maintenance forms.

  • Prepares rooms for guests’ arrival including placing complementary and promotional items in designated spots of room.

Inventory

  • Conducts weekly and yearly inventory of linen and supplies as requested by supervisor.
  • Notifies supervisor in advance when supplies or linen are running low in order to assure timely re-ordering.

Cleaning Public Areas

  • Cleans all public areas including meeting rooms and halls, dining rooms as assigned, offices as assigned, restrooms, and interior corridors.

  • Cleans using designated material and cleaning chemicals.
    Monitors public areas during use as assigned to maintain cleanliness

Outdoor Cleaning

  • Assists with cleaning projects outdoors including but not limited to wiping handrails, tables, and chairs.
  • Arranges furniture in meeting rooms and halls according to designated setups for guests.
  • Assists in moving items as needed for the various functions of the Retreat House.

Is cross-trained to be able to assist in kitchen tasks including manual and machine dishwashing and food preparation including preparing meals for retreats/programs as scheduled. The Kitchen/Housekeeping Supervisor will assign kitchen duties as needed.

Kitchen Duties

  • Washes pots and pans and other dishes in the dish room.
  • Sweeps and mops all kitchen floors, wipes down sinks and countertops at end of day./li>
  • Overall Deep Cleaning of a commercial kitchen.
  • Serves food on serving line or dining room as assigned.

General
May perform other housekeeping and kitchen duties, as assigned, to meet the day to day needs of Sacred Heart Retreat House.
